13 year old Tyson can't wait for his hunting trip with his grandpa Gene. He wants to get his own elk and prove he's tough like his beloved grandpa. But the weekend they are supposed to go Tyson's dad tells him they are moving grandpa into an assisted living facility hours away instead. Grandpa has been forgetful lately, but is he really sick? Tyson decides to find a way to give his grandpa one last trip. The problem? the area where they are going camping has had a rash of scary bear attacks. Tyson finds out some things about his family that he didn't know, and also just how tough he can be in this nice coming of age adventure story. The toughest thing may not be facing down a bear, but learning to let his Grandpa go.
