Looking at all that is wrong in the world, the seemingly perfect Veronika decides she can no longer go on living. Her suicide attempt fails and she wakes up in a mental hospital where she is told the attempt has weakened her heart and she only has days to live. As she meets others in the hospital, she begins to question both the definition of insanity and her desire to die. A beautiful novel about despair, survival and independence.
