Review

This is the ultimate in crossover mystery and thriller. There’s history, international travel, murder in locked rooms, romance, you name it, it’s here.  That said, I got caught up in this book.  This mystery thriller alternates between the life of Brother Johannes in the 1500s and a pair of modern day murders set in Baltimore, MD and Trondheim, Norway. The murders both have a link to Edgar Allan Poe.  It’s an elaborate story about serial killers and historic palimpsest books. (Once you learn about palimpsests, they will pop up everywhere.) The book is full of twists and turns but nothing seems too out of the ordinary to be a stretch.  If you like to guess who the murderer is ahead of time, this might take a while.
