Minli lives in a poor village and her family is the poorest of all. Her mother always sighs for riches, but her father is rich with stories that he tells. One day, Minli sets off to find the Old Man of the Moon at the Never-Ending Mountain who will tell her how to bring fortune to her family. On her journey, Minli makes friends with a dragon, a waterbuffalo herder, and a talking goldfish. She meets a king and has to run from a tiger-beast whose claws are poison. Everywhere she goes, Minli collects more stories. At the end of her journey, Minli learns an important lesson about happiness, but will her fortune be changed? This lovely story is woven from many elements of Chinese folklore.
