Review

I was pretty impressed with the writing in this book, even if it is seen as a "beach read."  I enjoy reading romance novels from time to time, and this one was one of the better stories of this type that I've read.  The characters were interesting, and unlike many stories, the saucier parts actually aren't tremendously frequent and don't begin until well into the book.  I loved that Daniel, the male love interest, is clad in a kilt for the majority of the book.  It isn't often that you read about a manly man in one of those!  Violet, our female protagonist, overcomes some tremendous mental obstacles with Daniel's help, and I found that to be inspiring.  She wasn't just a weak woman who needed a man to save her--she had been through some terrible things, and chose to work through them to be with the man she loves.  I also really enjoyed the fact that these characters found more in common to love about each other than just physical attraction.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys saucy romances, historical fiction, and to anyone who may have given up on love.  This is an uplifting story about the fact that love can find you in the most unexpected places and help you forget about the pain of the past.

**Remember that this is a romance novel, so there are some explicit scenes.**
