Program Description

Event Details

Join us as we mark the closing of the SISTER ROSETTA art exhibition. Created by legally-blind artist and historian, Chloé Duplessis, SISTER ROSETTA utilizes historical artifacts, original artwork, and handmade garments constructed from burlap, paper, and ancestral fabric to illuminate the extraordinary life and legacy of the trailblazing guitarist and performer, Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

Attendees of the closing will have the opportunity to witness the unveiling of a hand-crafted burlap “traveling cloak” and participate in an ancestral release ceremony honoring Sister Rosetta Tharpe. This event is free and open to the public.
