Starring Charles Laughton and Maureen O’Hara. Directed by William Dieterle. Sometimes, you’ve got to love a monster – or as one of the characters in this film says: ‘Ugliness is fascinating.’ With Charles Laughton as the hunchback, that is certainly true. “The Hunchback of Notre Dame is an outstanding adaptation of the Victor Hugo novel, set in fifteenth century France. One of the biggest budget films of its era, the sets are imposing, the cast is first rate, and the script is excellent. Charles Laughton is the Hunchback, deformed but spry and intelligent.

Explore the use of words used to describe the human form that also illuminate how we express our relationship to the natural world. Choose a word that resonates for you as a figural descriptor and we'll use that to match you up with a beautiful artwork in the DAM collection. After you are paired with your landscape, you'll turn it into a magnet for your fridge gallery. And we will be test driving our new rectangular button maker -- so on this night, the natural world will be made up of straight lines!

Join Fresh City Life for our third annual Anti-Valentine’s Day Party. We won’t be exchanging sweet nothings, but we will sweeten the experience with great appetizers and sweet finishes from our friends at Whole Foods Market – and we’ll poke a little fun at this thing called love with a presentation of the French film, He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not. Audrey Tautou, star of the modern romance classic, Amelie, plays Angelique, a young woman whose object of affection may be in question. It’s a surprising, quirky film that will make you fall in love with restraining orders all over again.
