Join the Denver World Music Studio and learn some Afro Cuban Rhythms: Drumming on Saturday, April 27 at 11 a.m. at the Sam Gary Branch. Slap, tap, and move! Hand drums provided. We'll cover drumming from congas to the deep tradition of Afro-Cuban folkloric rhythms and music.

Here are your choices for Saturday, April 13:

At 11 a.m., volunteers from the Fairmount Heritage Foundation present The Civil War at Riverside Cemetery at the Sam Gary Branch. Riverside is home to more than 1,200 Civil War veterans, including three Medal of Honor recipients, soldiers who fought with the "Colored Troops," and even some Confederates. Come learn some of their stories!

Scribes, Scholars & Storytellers Series 2013

The Blair-Caldwell Library created the Scribes, Scholars and Storytellers series to assist and uplift members of the Denver African American community that are involved in or trying to break into the published field. We strive to offer material from a wide range of genres. This year we have an awesome variety of talent. 13 Denver based scholars, poets and authors who will be sharing their creativity starting March 11 and ending on May 22. Join us for an exciting series, promising a little something for everyone!

Tuesday Technology Night at the Ross-University Hills Branch on Tuesday, June 26 at 6 p.m. will focus on MUSIC! Bring your questions about playlists, iTunes, Windows Media Player, or anything else related to music and computers (bring your laptop and/or your portable device, too!), and a librarian will help you out!

On Saturday, October 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Schlessman, learn all about the 123-acre urban wilderness in our own back yard, Bluff Lake Nature Center! Bluff Lake is a nonprofit agency that manages a unique urban wildlife and outdoor classroom in northeast Denver. It is home to an abundance of animals and native plants, which thrive in a variety of habitats.
