Teens! Get Ready for Blue Spruce Voting Time!

Did you know that the Colorado Blue Spruce Young Adult Book Award is voted on ONLY by teens in 6th-12th grades? Here's your chance to help decide the most popular books for middle and high school students in Colorado!

The Denver Public Library will help you vote this year starting December 1! In order to vote, you need to have read at least THREE of the nominated titles, so start now! Voting will run from December 1-31, and can be done in person at any library branch or through DPL's Teen website. Anyone in 6th-12th grade can vote! We'll post our very own DPL winner in January along with the official state winner!

Award winning Colorado author, speaker, broadcaster, and philanthropist Dom Testa will be at Schlessman this Saturday, July 23, at 2 p.m.

Testa hosts a top-rated morning radio show, speaks to schools and professional organizations all over the country, writes the best-selling Galahad book series for young adults, and oversees the non-profit educational foundation The Big Brain Club. He has won numerous awards for his writing and his radio program. The latest book in the Galahad Series is The Dark Zone. Books will be available for sale and signing.

It's no secret to fans of Harry Potter, Twilight, and The Hunger Games that teen books aren't just for teens any more. There are many reasons that adults are turning to YA literature, but mostly, it's because there are some great stories out there that have been marketed to young adults.

Whether you're wanting a great coming of age novel, a more succinct story, or want to be able to connect with a teen in your life through books, here are some authors to check out. Just like with adult books, not everything will appeal to you, but don't limit your reading just because something is in the teen section!
