Join us at The Bookies Bookstore on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 3:00 PM for an exciting author talk with David Heska Wanbli Weiden, an acclaimed member of the Sicangu Lakota Nation. Weiden is the author of Winter Counts, a national bestseller celebrated as a “once-in-a-generation thriller” by the Los Angeles Times and one of the “best crime novels of all time” by Parade magazine. Named a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice, Winter Counts has earned numerous accolades, including the Anthony and Thriller Awards, making Weiden the first Native American author to achieve such honors. He is also the author of the award-winning children’s book Spotted Tail.

Winter Counts follows Virgil Wounded Horse, a local enforcer on the Rosebud Indian Reservation, as he navigates questions of justice and identity in a thrilling and thought-provoking narrative. Don’t miss this chance to hear about Weiden’s inspirations, writing process, and the themes explored in Winter Counts. A Q&A session and book signing will follow.

This is a free but ticketed event. Your registration guarantees a seat. If your plans change and you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration so we can offer your seat to another patron.
