Storytelling and the Advancement of Agricultural Workers' Rights in Colorado

In June 2021, Governor Polis signed into law Colorado’s Agricultural Workers’ Rights Bill (SB-21-087), one of the country’s most comprehensive pieces of legislation on the subject. Based on the collaboration between Project Protect Food Systems Workers and the DU Ethnography Lab, this talk highlights the role that storytelling has had in advocating for the bill, monitoring its implementation, and helping build a sense of community among agricultural workers’ advocates across the state. The presentation ends with lessons learned about storytelling’s role in the advancement of social justice efforts.
