Event Details

The Denver Public Library and PEN America are hosting a live and interactive conversation with local Denver journalists to discuss reporting during a public health crisis, a period of social unrest, and an election season affecting every beat. We hope to connect our communities to their local news outlets and explore the pillars that constitute responsible reporting, incidents of violent restrictions imposed on local journalists at recent protests, among other pressing issues that local journalists are facing today. We will also discuss the behind-the-scenes making of a news story and how newsrooms have had to adapt during COVID-19 and for protest coverage. We will address the crucial role that local journalism plays in civic engagement and consider what reporters are facing in the months to come.
