NOTICE: Short Plaza today, as we are welcoming a professional artist at 5:30 to share her medium with us, the art of paper.

A program for all ages to work towards personal goals using FREE community resources and support. Come meet people and see something new for work or home each time! We will help you search for work on the internet, create or modify your resumé, learn a language, study for the GED or any other test, do homework, practice computer skills, and/or research health topics. Children may do homework, play with our toys, use the children's computers, or read.

Talented Art Students League of Denver faculty member Susan Porteous will offer adults, parents, and children a demonstration of paper art. These workshops are an excellent way for the community to meet local artists and gain insight into their success. Take advantage of this great opportunity to observe artists that will inspire you to tackle your own challenges and obstacles with your own goals while creating your own art. Free materials are available throughout the month for use.

Saturday Sessions- Sweet Song: Hammered Dulcimer with Peter Hebert

An expert instrumentalist, Peter Hebert plays the evocative hammered dulcimer and its cousin, the psaltery, with masterful ease – filling the air with the ancient sounds of Medieval Europe. The Graeco-Roman dulcimer (sweet song) derives its name from the Latin dulcis (sweet) and the Greek melos (song). Find out how perfectly named this haunting instrument can be when Peter Hebert makes his dulcimer sing a sweet song. This concert will feature improvisations on songs and melodies of the Holiday Season.

MSU Denver music professor Peter Schimpf will present a program of music from the early 17th century, a period of transition as the Renaissance style began to give way to the dramatic aesthetic of the early Baroque. He will perform on a 10 course lute and 14 string theorbo.

An exuberant musical experience, rooted firmly in traditional Jewish modes and melodies and driven by contemporary rhythms and danceable grooves, Hal Aqua and The Lost Tribe play nouveau klezmer music. The versatile musicians who make up The Lost Tribe have a deep respect for their source material, from the evocative tunes of Eastern European Jews and Gypsies to the sinuous rhythms of the Middle East and Mediterranean.

Guitarist Tom Carleno blends jazz, folk and pop to create a unique musical experience. He is most know for his distinctive use of a wide variety of alternate tunings, which form the blank canvas for his songs. His recent CD, titled Perfect Imperfection, is receiving rave reviews and radio airplay internationally and climbed to the number two spot on the Zone Music Reporter Radio Chart. Tom has also won the Best Instrumental Album - Acoustic award in the 10th Annual ZMR Awards in New Orleans.

This fourth annual Franco-inspired market gets bigger and better every year! Experience the sights, sounds, aromas and tastes of the holidays in Paris. Admission is free to this arts and crafts market sponsored by The Denver Public Library. Sample some French nibbles while enjoying warm cider or a rich cup of coffee -- all with a backdrop of live accordion and Paris cafe music (live concerts are featured at 11a and 2p each day). There will be lots of holiday shopping, too -- great gifts from local creatives. A wonderful chance to support artists and businesses in your community!
