Ethiopia Reads Presents
A Celebration of Landscape, Culture and Art
Four artists-- 2 Ethiopian and 2 American-- traveled together to depict the beauty of the Ethiopian countryside through paint and photography. Their work will be on display at the Blair-Caldwell African American Research library, along with art by local Denver artists with Ethiopian ties, during the month of October.
*The Central Library will close at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014.*
Teens (ages 12-19): Monday-Friday, 3-6 p.m. and Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
ideaLAB is a makerspace and digital media lab at the Central Library. With our equipment and software, you can make videos, games, music, art, crafts, and more. The lab is free to anyone – no library card necessary! If you have questions, visit http://denverlibrary.org/idealab, or contact us at 720-865-1706 or by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Come join a presenter from the Denver Art Museum to make an art piece and learn about the history and culture at the museum. Free Denver Art Museum family passes for attendees! Experience new mediums of self-expression through art to share your unique voice, background, and see your community in a new light.
NOTICE: Short Plaza today, as we are welcoming a professional artist at 5:30 to share her medium with us, the art of paper.
A program for all ages to work towards personal goals using FREE community resources and support. Come meet people and see something new for work or home each time! We will help you search for work on the internet, create or modify your resumé, learn a language, study for the GED or any other test, do homework, practice computer skills, and/or research health topics. Children may do homework, play with our toys, use the children's computers, or read.
Talented Art Students League of Denver faculty member Susan Porteous will offer adults, parents, and children a demonstration of paper art. These workshops are an excellent way for the community to meet local artists and gain insight into their success. Take advantage of this great opportunity to observe artists that will inspire you to tackle your own challenges and obstacles with your own goals while creating your own art. Free materials are available throughout the month for use.
