In this five week class, you will learn three basic clay techniques (slab, coil, pinch) in order to create two pieces: one functional work, one sculpture. Two different finishing processes will be used. We will have fun, no experience necessary; all materials provided. 

This workshop runs for 5 weeks. All workshops are on Thursdays from 4-6pm. The dates are October 10, 17, 24 and November 7,14. 

*Please note there will not be a session on October 31st.

All workshops take place at the Hirschfeld Tower (333 W Ellsworth) in their Community Room on the east side of the building. Street parking is available outside the building around Dailey Park.

About Instructor: As an artist who blends video, performance, painting, and sculpture, Juntae TeeJay Hwang has spent years exploring the complexities of expectations, miscommunications, value, and purpose. Hwang's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Slade School of Fine Art at University College London, UK, and a Master of Fine Arts from Columbia University in the City of New York. He is excited to bring my expertise to the classroom and guide students in their own artistic explorations. Through his work, he hopes to inspire students to think critically about the world around them and to use their creative talents to make meaningful contributions to society. Hwang believes that every student has the potential to unlock their creativity and achieve their artistic goals, and is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages experimentation and self-expression.
