Program Description

Event Details

Worry dolls, or Muñeca quitapena, originated from the Mayan culture of Guatemala. According to legend, Mayan people would tell their worries to small dolls before going to sleep, and the dolls would take their worries away while they slept. Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and make your own set of Worry Dolls.

We'll also celebrate with this month's Early Readers Book Club. Build literacy skills in a fun, supportive space. Join us for a shared read aloud of "Sofia Martinez and the Shopping Trip Troubles." Then, we'll make Hispanic Heritage worry dolls! Ideal for kids going into kindergarten through 2nd grade, or anyone hoping to improve their reading skills. First 10 participants will receive a free copy of the book; no registration required.
