Event Details

Kwanzaa is a celebration that honors the African first fruits harvest tradition. Take part in a festive cross-cultural virtual experience highlighting the principle of Kujichagulia (Self-Determination). The program will feature Jawana Norris who will welcome us into the space and provide an introduction to Kwanzaa and Herbalist Monticue Connally/Jiridon Apothecary will share stories and tips of self-determination that helped his aliments with the aid of a few plant medicines. Q&A to follow. Ideal for all ages.

Monticue is a Denver native, Shaman and Community Herbalist with a heart for community and education. In the summers he helps co-teach a Mountain Herbalism program and is also a teacher for the Denver Botanic Gardens Herbal Certification Program. He has offered herb walks in the past teaching locals about the many medicines growing around them.
